This being the saddest in the history of India when thousands of people were brutally killed at the instructions of General Dyer as they gathered to celebrate the Baisakhi festival. Memorial was constructed by Indian government in the year 1951.

Located at the distance of 28kms away from Amritsar and 22 kms away from Lahore Wagah Border makes the boundaries between India and Pakistan, it runs between Grand Trunk road in Amritsar in Punjab and Punjab in Lahore Pakistan. Here the forces from either side of the countries display military camaraderie and showmanship. Beating the retreat ceremony is held by 4.15 pm in winters and 5.15 during summers.
