Europe is a vast continent and has got too many alluring travel destinations in the world. From food to fashion, culture to nature, Europe has got everything covered. Talking about food, Europe reminds us so much of exotic pasta, delicious pizza, croissants, and definitely crispy creamy waffles. Not just the food, everything about Europe just makes you drool over. One time visit is never going to be enough to explore the beautiful continent of history, culture, scenic beauty and more.
It is quite a tough job to narrow down the European bucket list activities, but we have decided to do it for you anyway. Here are 5 things you must do on your trip to Europe:
First things first, let’s talk about food. Let’s talk about the sugar rush and let’s talk about waffles. Is there anyone who doesn’t love the sweetened soft and crispy, mouth-wateringly delicious savory dessert like a waffle? Definitely no one! Belgium is home for waffles, fries, and beer. Particularly, Brussels in Belgium is especially known for its tasty waffles. An interesting fact to know about Belgian waffles is that they are of two types. Brussels waffles known as Belgian waffles with thick cream and fruit toppings are the known type. There is another type called the liege waffles which have a comparatively sticky texture and of course, wonderful taste. While you are there, try Belgian Frites (similar to French fries) and craft beers that’ll totally knock you out!
What is a European bucket list without Eiffel tower in it? As cliché as it may sound, Eiffel tower is one thing everyone wants to visit, at least once in a lifetime. Paris, the fashion capital of the world has got so much for all its visitors while Eiffel tower tops the list. Watch the tower from its foot during the night with all the sparkling lights and a relatively calmer atmosphere. You’d be enthralled by the elegance of this scintillating beauty. You can even watch sunrise if you are ready to wake up quite early to reach there before it gets crowded. Also, you can sip a glass of champagne on the rooftop restaurant feeling like you are at the top of the world.
Europe is a place every bibliophile must visit. Anyone who is a casual reader can enjoy passing by the numerous bookstores located at various places in Europe. You can find plenty of book shops in London, Romantic art and literature in Rome, Crime novels in Stockholm, and multiple novels revealing history and culture in Dublin, Ireland, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Some major literary places to not miss include Edinburgh in Scotland which is the first-ever UNESCO city of literature in areas of drama, literature, poetry, and romance. Hay-on-Wye is another major tourist attraction. The entire town is filled with bookshops, ruins of castles and vintage books. An Annual literary fest also takes place in the town during the month of May. How classic!
Another clichéd but fun thing to strike off from your European bucket list is Gondola ride in Venice. Venice is a beautiful place full of beauty, history and hundreds of narrow canals that leave you in wonder. This was once the financial center during the time of renaissance and hence got great cultural and artistic development. Gondola ride, though expensive, is something no one misses out when given a chance. Gondolas are flat bottomed wooden boats about 11m long, owned and maintained by Gondoliers. These were once used by elite class people as water transportation in Venice. Now, this makes Venice famous among the world’s attractions. The rides are undeniably romantic and fun, particularly if you ride along narrow canals leaving aside the main city and grand canals. Sunrise and sunsets are best for gondola rides.
If you want to see fairytale land that you always picture in your mind, Bonn is where you head to. During the month of April, all the cherry trees bloom beautifully all over the cobblestone streets. The pink blush of nature creating a carpet of beauty in the air is perhaps the best thing to picture. Cherry plants which are native to Japan were planted in Bonn in 1980 and every year the local people and tourists from different part of the world come to visit this beauty. Blossom festival is celebrated here which is quite famous. Other attractions like Beethoven House and museum Koenig are not too far from this location.
We know this list should be going on and Europe has so much more to offer. Head to Europe the coming vacation and strike these things off the bucket list first. We bet, you’ll have one hell of a time doing these things!
