Corbett National Park is situated on the banks of the river Ram Nagar in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas. The park was named after Jim Corbett, who made the remarkable conservation work in the area. It extends over a wide area with many species of animals. There are about 50 species of mammals, 600 birds and 25 species of reptiles. The tiger is the most famous resident of this park. The leopards, crocodiles gavials and feed on fish are also popular with tourists. It is the oldest wildlife sanctuary and the first to be introduced under the Project Tiger.
