The Dubai Mall in Downtown Dubai is an indispensable part of Dubai. The mall was constructed by Emaar properties. The total area covered by the mall is 12 million sq ft, which is equivalent in size to 200 soccer pitches. The mall has an internal floor area of 5.9 million sq ft and 3.77 million sq ft of leasable space and over 1,200 retail stores, two anchor department stores and more than 200 food and beverage outlets.
The Dubai mall has acclamation for high fashion. It has more the 70 signature stores dedicated to fashion covering an area of 440,000 sq ft. Galeries Lafayette, France’s leading lifestyle retailer and Bloomingdale’s, America’s leading department store, are the main stores of the mall. Dubai Mall also has jewellery stores, accessory outlets, traditional clothing and handicraft shops. covering over 96,000 square feet, the store offers a quite different and unparalleled shopping experience where luxury and contemporary style meet to the new era of retail. Approximately 250 designers come together under one roof in 40 carefully selected franchise.
A unique exhibit from the Late Jurassic Period, a Diplodocus Longus dinosaur skeleton is now on display at The Dubai Mall. Visitors of the mall have the opportunity to get an up-close look at the 155 million-year-old dinosaur skeleton which is 24.4 metres long and 7.6 metres high.
The Dubai Mall has the largest and most extensive and luscious Food & Beverage offerings, with over 200 outlets from fine dining to casual. The mall’s promenade is lined with an array of themed cafés and restaurants, each offering an al-fresco dining experience with views of The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa.
The main attraction of the Dubai mall is Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. It is one of the largest aquariums existing in the world. The aquarium can hold around 10 million litres of water, It also enhances and showcases one of the most diverse and extravagant collections of marine animals worldwide. It houses thousands of aquatic animals including sharks. Its 270-degree acrylic walkthrough tunnel makes for incredible close-encounter with some of the most fascinating underwater animals on the planet. A special 'lunar-cyclic' lighting changes the ambience of the tank depending on the time of day. Underwater Zoo is also located above the aquarium and provides an interactive and fascinating approach for educating children and visitors on our planet and the conservation of marine life.
The Dubai Mall also has the Olympic-size Dubai Ice Rink that can host international, standard competition events. With a seating capacity of 350, Dubai Ice Rink is a family-oriented attraction open to the general public, with regular ‘learn to skate’ programmes taking place.
