If you are wanting to indulge in the aura of peace and serenity, then visit Hadimba Devi Temple that is surrounded by tall trees; sit, relax, and calm amidst nature. Hadimba Devi Temple is also known as the Dhungari temple, located in Manali, north parts of Himachal Pradesh. The temple was constructed in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. It is an ancient cave temple where the deity performed meditation, located amidst the hills of Manali, that are covered with snow. It is a unique shrine of Hidimbi Devi, who is the wife of Bhima, a figure in the Indian epic Mahabharata.

This beautiful temple is built on the rocks enclosed with cedar forests. The architecture of the Hadimba Devi temple is unique and different from the construction styles of other temples. It has a captivating cone-shaped roof, carved with wooden doorways and walls. It is 24 meters tall and the three-square roofs consist of timber tiles. The deity of this temple is also known as the Goddess of Nature or Forest Goddess.

How to Reach

  • By Road : This temple is 100 meters away from the Mall Road and situated just 2 kilometers from the Manali town. Depending on what suits you the most, you can either take a bus or taxi.
  • By Air : You can choose a flight for reaching this place. The nearest airport to the Hadimba Temple is Bhuntar Airport.
  • By Train : Another way to get to this temple is by train, you can get down at the nearest railway station which is Joginder Nagar Railway Station. The distance from the railway station to Hadimba Temple is merely 2 kilometers, you can either walk till the spot or hire a cab.
  • By Trekking : If you are keen to walk, then you can even trek till the temple.

  • Tour to the temple: You can take a tour outside the temple, looking at the architecture and roam around the forest until it gets dark. The temple is made of whitewashed stonework, exquisite wooden carving entrance. You can carry your camera and take the beautiful pictures of this temple embraced with forest hills. It is known as the center for religious and archaeological interest.
  • Mall Road: Another attractive place is Mall Road where you can buy souvenirs, magnets, gifts, and accessories from local shops.
  • Facilities: After you have taken a tour around this snow-covered temple, there are facilities available outside, including; cafeteria, drinking water facility, publication, and booking center.
  • Museum: You would surely want to visit the Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art near the monument.

Its situated in the Manali city of Himachal Pradesh, the Hadimba Temple. It is dedicated to Hadimba Devi, a Hindu Goddess. The strong mythological story led people to drive immense faith to the goddess. Apart from the divine bliss, you will love to this palace......you must visit once at this place....

Nice location. If we go on winter days it's more beautiful. The snow above the temple. The area will be covered with snow. The place looks serine white.The pine trees around provide extra beauty to the temple. Inside the temple the peace is immense. So place location to clicks beautiful pictures. Nice place to spent sometime around.

Yes, it is open for everyone, however, entry fees to this place are INR 20 (per person) for Indians and INR 50 (per person) for Foreign Nationals.
Hadimba Devi Temple is over 500 years old. The temple was constructed in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh.
The timing to visit the temple is from 8 am until 6 pm and it opens an entire 7 days a week.
