The Mayyancherry Palace was built by Portuguese and is situated in Mattancherry, Kochi, located 12 kms away from Eranakulam. It is one of the finest Kerala inspired architecture with colonial influences. It was presented to King Veera Kerala Verma of Kochi Dynasty by the Portuguese. It is famous for its long spacious halls and a beautiful courtyard in the centre. The courtyard has a temple which has the deity of the Kochi Royal family. The spectacular flooring done with a mixture of burnt coconut shells, lime, plant juices and egg-whites is captivating. The Dutch carried out some renovations and post that it was known as Dutch Palace.
