Alimatha Island

The international airport and the capital city Male are equidistant from Alimatha Island. It is 40 miles away from the airport and Male. If you avail of a seaplane facility, a seaplane takes around 20 minutes to reach the island. On the other hand, a boat takes 90 minutes to reach Alimatha Island.

Withdraw all the cash to cover your entire trip from the airport because ATMs are few and far between on the local Islands. Restaurants and ferry accept payments in local currency. Dive Schools and guesthouses require cash in dollars. Having both the currencies is good to have during your vacation.
