It is an administrative atoll of the Maldives and comprises a group of natural atolls. Two separate atolls North Male Atoll and South Male Atoll make up Male Atoll. Smaller geographic atolls of Kaashidhoo island and Gaafaru forms the administrative division of Male Atoll. Its Thaana alphabet letter code name is Kaafu Atoll.
The capital city of the Maldives lies in the south of North Male Atoll. International Airport of the Maldives lies in the adjacent islands of Hulhule. Villingili and Hulhumale are the artificial islands, which are not part of Male Atoll. It is a separate administrative unit. Thulusdhoo in North Male atoll is the capital of Male Atoll.
First, tourists will catch a flight to land at Male International Airport. Further internal transportation is available from the seaplane base. Within the city, tourists can get around in a cab or taxi.

Diving and surfing are the main activities that draw people to this part of Maldives. There are numerous diving sites on both atolls and convenient surf breaks on the eastern side of both atolls. The government ended the exclusive surfing. Earlier, surf breaks were deemed the property of the resorts, and only their guests were able to surf the waves. Now, you are free to surf at any break in the country.
North Male Atoll
This reef is the place to behold fish life and underwater plants. Snorkeling and diving are the activities here with excellent visibility and clean water. It is one of the best reefs in the north male atoll.
Bikini Beach(Picnic Island Beach)
Bikini beach at Kuda Bandos in North Male Atoll lies on a private resort island. This beach is open to tourists from Sunday to Thursday. Parasailing, diving, snorkeling, speed boating, driving water scooters and canoeing, and picnic are the main attractions on the beach.

This grand and beautiful mosque is the leading Islamic center of Male city. You will see the giant golden dome from afar.

This is a small and crowded beach in Maafushi with shallow water, palm trees, and tricky sunbeds. You can watch the sunset from your sunbed. If you swim inside, you may come across small stingrays and little black-tip reef sharks.
Biyadoo is a circular ten-acre resort island in South Male Atoll in the administrative division Kaafu Atoll. The distance from Male International Airport is 18 miles. Local and western food is good. It offers excellent reefs for diving.
