The National Museum is of two large buildings that are separated by Sultan’s Park. The old museum is known to be the former Sultan’s palace. The building is of three storeys styled in a colonial way. It consists of a huge collection of Sultan’s belongings such as costumes and ornaments that were used by the kings of that era. Other than this there were other anthropological artefacts, arms, and armour, paper and cloth manuscripts, etc.

The newer building is the modification and renovation of the older palace which is purely made of glass and steel. It is a double-storey building featuring interiors that are from the sultanate days. The complex of the museum is beautifully surrounded by the park.
