  • Several gates allow entry to Museum. Even if you bought the ticket and face long queues, you can choose the other entrance gate.
  • The entry is free on the first Sunday of every month. Avoid going there on month's first Sunday if you don't like crowds and long queues. The museum remains close on Tuesday. Make sure to be there early in the morning to avoid unnecessary queues.

The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile is one of the prominent monuments in Paris, built near the western side of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle. Louis-Philippe did the inauguration of it in the year 1836. 

It was Napoleon Bonaparte's dream to make Paris the most amazing city in the world. During that period of time, the French Army was very powerful and had captured almost every part of Europe. In 1806, he thought of appreciating his army by getting an arc built. These were his words to his army, “You will return home through arcs of triumph.” and this is how the place got its name.

The construction of the arc got over in 1836, almost a decade after the demise of Napoleon. The cost came out after making the Arc de Triomphe was near about 9 million Francs at that time.

  • The Arc de Triomphe kept the title of the largest triumphal arch till 1982. At present, It is the second-largest Arch in the world.
  • Before constructing this enormous Arc, an introductory demo of I'Arc was created with woods from where Napolean with his wife, Marie Louise marched through they were keeping their first step into Paris after their marriage. 
  • In 1919, a fighter plane was flown through this Arc De Triomphe by a French Aviator, Charles Godefroy. He did this to pay respect to the airman who died in the war.
