Overview

Standing upon the Europe's highest waterfall, you can feel the roar and vibration of water. Rhine Falls provide you an experience of lifetime.
Rhine Falls is known to be the largest plain waterfall in Europe.
The flow rate of the Rhine Falls is 23 meters with a breadth of 150 meters. The deepness of the tub is 13 meters and average torrential 600 meters per second.
They literally provide a stunning view of the Cascading falls.

History

Over 15,000 years ago, due to the tectonic shifts, Rhine river was forced into a new river bed. The Rhine Falls came into being at the transition point where hard chalk turned into soft gravel.
In the middle of it, stands a gigantic rock that has withstood the elements for over a thousand years. The rock can be reached by taking a circular tour of the mighty falls. Virtually in the middle of the waterfall, visitors stand on platforms that jut out and partially hover over the Rhine. The visitors can reach the castles of Wörth and Laufen by taking the river boat , and if you are adventurous enough you can even rent canoes.
As an addition to the new visitor's centre , a children's playground and the interactive exhibition about the Rhine Falls called the "Historama" have been opened.
Also the new adventure trail with its dual lift system and the Belvedere Trail make easy access to the magnificent Rhine Falls.

When to visit?

The Rhine Falls flow round the year and are impressive all year round.
However, in Summers, the flow is at highest and provides awe-struck view.

Amazing. Truly a great experience!! Surely a must visit. Be sure to take the Yellow Boat ( Route 1) - only this one takes you close to the falls and also you can climb the rock to get some spectacular views. The water spray hitting your face is a refreshing feeling.

Great stop. You can get free parking near the castle side. We walked down from there to the boats (there are a number of choices from a 3 min river crossing up to a 30 min tour). Playgrounds on both sides, including one with a super steep slide that is available to kids over 125cm tall. You need a ticket for the viewing platforms on the castle side. Take the pedestrian path on the railway bridge to see from another angle. There are a number of food options but we brought our own picnic and a few treats from the farm stand across from the parking lot.

Impressive falls and beautiful blue-green water. One can walk along the river and over the bridge, that allows to look at the falls from different angles. Boat trip is not really necessary.

A must visit for nature lovers. If you are anywhere in the vicinity and have half a day to a full day available then this is a must visit. Some mesmerizing views, great walking paths along the river Rhine plus a few water sport options. Apparently Europe’s tallest water fall with a history (formed during the last ice age some 14,000 to 17,000 years ago)
