However, in 1998 two remote islands have been added again.

By adding two more islands this place has expanded a bit. Each island is called by its number. The archipelago was formed by hot magma stimuli during the Terrier-Cretaceous period about 65 million years ago. The coral walls are possibly 5000 years old. This national park was inaugurated in 1982. Due to the 2004 tsunami, the island's waters are very deep.

How to Reach

  • By Flight : This is the fastest way to get to Iceland by plane. You have to take a flight from Bangkok to Phuket and then you can go to this island by arranging aboard.
  • By Bus : If you want to go to Similan Island then you will get a night bus from Bangkok to Ranong. From there you have to go by boat to Similar Island. It takes about 2 hours to go from Ranong to Similar Island.

Things To Do 

Diving-

It is one of the top dive locations in the world. The park covers about 140 km. This is one of the best underwater activities among visitors. Similan National park became the 43 National parks in Thailand in 1982.

Boating-

In the local dialect & ‘Similan’ means the nine main islands that make up this collection in the Andaman. So apart from diving, you are probably wondering what else to do here. Undoubtedly the most popular activity is boating. You can travel around the island and seek out secret beaches.

Wildlife Encounter-

There is also, some unique wildlife to encounter such as Nicobar pigeons. Every evening at 8 pm, guides take the tourists into the forest with flashlights to look for animals, including unique species of crab that feed only at night. 


 

Places To Eat

There are so many restaurants near Similan Islands National park Bungalows. Khao Soi is a local dish from the Northern part area of Thailand. Lek Sparrow Bar is famous for its Thai Food and Ruan Thai Kitchen is famous for Seafood and Thai foods. Siam Turmeric Restaurant is famous for Seafood, Fast food, Deli, Indian and Thai foods.

 

 

Where To Stay?

There is no hotel to stay in the Similan Islands, only bungalows are available where you can rent. For the tents that can be found there, one tent will accommodate two or three people per night. 

Bungalows at Similan Islands-

There are bungalows available at Koh Meang of Similan Islands for rent where you can stay. It will cost you around 1000 Baht a night or a cheaper option the bungalow is known as Hu Yong and the most expensive Cho views Bungalow will cost you around 2000 Baht for a night. 

Tents on a campsite-

If you want to enjoy the wildlife in the morning, it is recommended to stay at Tents. It will cost you around 500 Baht per person per night.

Similan Island is situated in the Andaman Sea and is a group of islands. It is a national park named Mu Ko Similan, which is situated 84 km northwest of the Phuket.
If you want to go to Similan Island then you will get a night bus from Bangkok to Ranong. From there you have to go by boat to Similar Island. It takes about 2 hours to go from Ranong to Similar Island.
There are no hotels available in Similan Island but still if you want to stay here at night then you can stay in a bungalow or campsite. 2-3 men can stay in a tent at night.
