Har Ki Pauri Ghat is known to be the holy place in Haridwar. Ganga Aarti is conducted here, which is believed to be a sacred spot where the nectar was dropped on earth. People believe this as a pious place on earth where the Ganges touches the plains through leaving the Himalayan ranges. Ghat is situated on the west of the Ganges Canal which then turns to the north.



What is it famous for? 

Har Ki Pauri is considered to be a famous spot where Ganga aarti happens in the Brahmakund area. Devotees pay respect to the holy river every morning and evening, in Haridwar. This location attracts many devotees of Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar. Priests chant hymns towards the sacred river.

Tourists are fascinated by this place and can spot the view of the Ganga Aarti that takes place usually in the morning from 5.30 am to 6.30 am and in the evening from 6 pm to 7 pm. Visitors come from far places to this pure Ghat to take a dip in the holy water.

The Ghat looks mesmerizing after getting brightened up by shimmering lights and lamps. The priests enchant prayers, and devotees float diyas on the surface of the water giving respect to the river Ganges. Thousands of pilgrims’ get-together and commence festivities during many fairs including Kumbha Mela, Vaisakhi, Ardh Kumbh Mela.

  • By Train : The railway station closest to Har ki Pauri Ghat is in Haridwar itself. It is only 3 km away from Haridwar Railway Station. You can take cycle-rickshaw or auto to reach Har Ki Pauri from the railway station.
  • By Road : Road well-connects the holy city of Haridwar with major cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. You can board a bus or cab to reach Har Ki Pauri.
  • By Flight : The airport closest to Har ki Pauri is Jolly Grant Airport. The distance between these two points is 28.8 km.

Ganga Aarti –  Devotees from all over the world indulge in the religious prayer at the bank of holy river Ganga at the Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar. Priests perform prayers with lamps and ring the temple bells. The entire place is enclosed by the chanting of mantras and reflection of lights on the surface of the water.
