Day 1- Arrival at Dehradun

Char Dham yatra begins from Yamunotri Dham after a 36 km drive from Barkot, followed by a 7 km trek. Barkot also connects to Uttarkashi which is just about 100 km from the Gangotri Dham.

The Government has built all weather roads for the entire chardham yatra, but the roads to Char Dham Yatra sites might get affected during monsoon season and can hold traffic jams due to landslides caused by heavy rain on mountains. Apart from that, the Roads are very good.
All 4 of the Char Dham Yatra sites are open during the monsoon season. However, due to heavy rain and occasional landslides, disruptions and delays can occur. It is preferred that you should avoid the yatra in the monsoon season.
The government itself does not operate taxi services to the Char Dham Yatra sites. However, government-approved and registered travel agents operate taxi services of different kinds to take you on your Char Dham Yatra.
